In this high-school level acting intensive, actors will audition, rehearse and perform a one-act version of Shakespeare's witty, whimsical comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream. This performance session will focus on ensemble-building, acting techniques, the importance of the rehearsal process and demystifying the language of Shakespeare. A Midsummer Night's Dream is an excellent play for exploring the joys and challenges of a Shakespearean play: mischievous fairies, a band of tradesmen-turned-actors, and four young people trying to figure out what love means all collide in a story that still feels relevant today. This class is designed for students to be active participants in creating a learning environment that centers taking artistic risks, as well as not being afraid to make mistakes.
